"P@rty Prop@g@nd@": There are political parties, which I don't endorse, & parties for fun, which I do endorse. For this movie I took 3 prominent 20th century propaganda movies: the execrable racist/capitalist "Birth of a Nation" by D.W.Griifth, the nauseating nazi/racist "Triumph of the Will" by Leni Reifenstahl, & Sergei Eisenstein's "October". These were all originally high-resolution & black & white. I then intercut these under extremely crude VHS deck-to-deck conditions with footage from social events that I had something to do with. This VHS footage was originally low-resolution & color. This was made primarily from 1990 to 1993. Footage from a party in 1996 was tagged on at the end later. I then rendered most of the color footage black & white in 1999 to make it 'blend' more with the 35mm propaganda. It's essentially an anarchist propaganda movie (although it could be called a neoist propaganda movie too). Hence the use of "@"s as both "a"s & anarchy symbols (circled "A"s). I've only screened this movie, possibly, twice: once at an anarchist gathering in the early 1990s &, maybe, in Pittsburgh at Project 1877 on September 30, 2003. Pitch-shiftings of voices is meant to function as a way of playing with conventional images of authority. While the movie is crude, I think it gets across the spirit I'm propagandizing for reasonably well. - August 8, 2019 notes from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
